Labor News: July 21, 2014 Issue

Member News:

Dues: June MUST BE PAID NO LATER THAN July 30, 2014

Member News:

  • Labor Film Series: Once again we have tickets for this event. You can stop by the office to pick-up tickets and a schedule of movies.
  • Labor Day Parade: It’s not too early to start thinking about the Labor Day Parade and we need all the help we can get.  Attendance is always good but we would like to make it better.  Contact Bonnie or Cheryl to add your name to the volunteer list.
  • Voter Registration: If you or anyone 18 years or older in your household are not registered to vote please call the hall and we will send you a registration form along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope. When we receive it we will send it to the proper county seat.

Updated 2014 Union Projects List:

You must access the Laborers Local 435 website @ www.local435.com and create a profile which includes a user name and password to see the updated list of union projects for this season.

Pipeline Operator Qualifications:

The Operator Qualifications course is designed to certify participants as Qualified Evaluators for Operator Qualification (OQ) for testing/evaluation of specific tasks performed by pipeline workers. Based upon the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline Operator Qualification requirements, the course prepares workers to qualify in the 14 covered tasks associated with pipeline work. Anyone interested in being qualified for upcoming pipeline projects contact the Training Department @ 585-546-8460 and speak to Lori.

Reminders:

Certification Cards: Check your expiration dates. You will have to leave the job and be replaced if your cards are not up to date. CHECK YOUR CARDS.

School Projects: This is a reminder that if you are caught smoking on school property you will be terminated immediately, without notice or warning.

Xerox Safety Training:  Safety Training is held at Building #335 at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays only.

Kodak Safety Training: Safety Training is only done online. Please keep your cards up to date.

Safety: Those who work the safest way, live to work another day.

A GOOD SAFETY CULTURE IS BUILT OVER TIME. IT IS NEVER GIVEN. Drive the culture change by demonstrating your commitment to safety.

Contact Information:

Once you are contacted for employment please keep the contact information for the foreman and superintendent for that specific job. You need this information so if any issues may arise you can contact the foreman or superintendent. DO NOT CALL THE HALL. WE WILL NOT CONTACT THE CONTRACTOR FOR YOU. YOU NEED TO CALL THE FOREMAN OR SUPERINTENDENT.

Pictures:

Please send us pictures of the projects where you are currently employed. We would like to post them on the website and Facebook page. You can visit us on Facebook at Laborers Local 435.

Sweatshirts and Jackets:

We are placing orders for jackets and sweatshirts. Anyone interested should contact Bonnie or Cheryl at 454-5800.

Union Meeting:

As a reminder our July & August meetings have been suspended. The E-board will still meet as scheduled.
